Music as Literature
My notes from the first day of Socratic Seminar are the following:
- In the Album Graceland by Paul Simon, we can hear multiple music genres mixed on each of his songs. I can hear (country, rocknroll, saxophone, etc...).
- Paul Simon was inspired by African American culture to make this Album. This led him to win a Grammy award.
- Many people called the album a bridge between African and American culture.
- Paul Simon collaborated with other culture to write Graceland lyrics.
- Culture means the beliefs, customs, art etc... of a particular society, group, place or time.
