Notes from Today's lesson
First: We started the class by watching the "I have a dream speech - video".
- Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to stop discrimination.
- He fought for people civil rights.
- He wanted to stop racism.
- He was looking for freedom.
- He wanted to make America a country where people were not being judge by their skin color.
Second: After discussing about the video, we moved on into Ethos, Pathos and Logos. This are my notes:
- Ethos is related to Ethics. The function of a speaker. It is related to credibility. Para verbal and Non verbal. The question we should ask ourselves when analyzing Ethos is: Does the author knows about the topic?
- Pathos is related to Emotion. Words that describe pathos: Passion, emotion, power, empathy, compassion. Para verbal and non verbal. The question we should ask ourselves when analyzing pathos is Does the author cares about what is he telling the audience?
- Logos is related to Logic. Verbal, logic, expository (explains) and persuasive. The question we should ask ourselves when analyzing Logos is: Is the author making any sense?
