Paul Simon: The story of Graceland

American Literature: is literature written or produced in the United States.
Does this qualify as American Literature? In my opinion Paul Simon's album Graceland qualifies as American Literature. Literature is defined as written works specially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit. The lyrics of the songs we wrote led him to win the Grammy award as Album of the year. His written work (song Lyrics) captivated the attention of people over the world.

After reading the first chapter of the Great Gatsby, I have noticed a Racist and sexiest behavior by some of the characters. Evidence for this is found in the next quote: "Is up to us, who are the dominant race, to watch out or these other races will have control of things" page. 19.  Tom, talks about a book that explains " colored empires". The book is about how other empires will rise and dominate the white race. Tom and Daisy get really defensive on the subject. That quote, shows the reader that Tom might be racist.
